ADVANCED WATER
DESALINATION SYSTEM

A breakthrough in desalinating water without the use of reagents
COMMERCIAL PROPOSAL
Hirzel Ventures is the authorized office of the technology holder for the Gulf Region.

We offer a revolutionary desalination system designed to treat sea water, river water or underground sources and provide safe drinking water for own needs and / or commercial implementation.

Our plants operate using the innovative technology of industrial water treatment "AKVAMIN", based on the "electromembrane process" method, that combines electrodialysis, electrolysis, electroosmosis and electromembrane filtration, and allows to simultaneously clean, disinfects and desalinates water without the use of chemical reagents.

Our desalination solution incorporated in the plant allows to:

  • Provide the required amount of desalination water in accordance with the requirements of GOST;
  • Scale and modulate the technology in terms of productivity and depth of cleaning;
  • Reduce the number of technological drains and increase the water use factor;
  • Avoid using chemical reagents to purify process effluents, thus eliminating alkaline emissions into the environment;
  • Implement the desalination process not using a phase transition (water-steam), which allows to lower twice the energy consumption and leads to an efficient use of renewable energy sources.
Benefits
The given desalination plant has a number of significant advantages over the known ones, and includes the following:

  • Chemical reagents are not used during desalting;
  • Concentrate (brine) does not contain any oxic impurities;
  • The operation time of the membranes corresponds with the depreciation period of the main equipment;
  • The volume of fresh water at the outlet is at least 90% of the initial saline water volume;
  • Low operating costs, and as a result, low cost of high-quality fresh water;
  • Reliability of the equipment operation, availability of equipment maintenance and repair;
  • Fast terms of installation and construction and assembly works due to unit and assembly metal-foam-polymer constructions of workshops with the further subsequent increase of productive capacities.

The initial raw material for cleaning and desalination can be water with a high level of contamination, both bacterial and contamination with chemicals and radionuclides.
Areas of Application
Areas of possible application of the reagent-less technology and desalination systems:

  • Food industry
  • Chemical industry
  • Agro-industrial complex
  • Municipal Facilities
  • Power engineering (nuclear power plants, thermal power stations, etc.)
  • Healthcare
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Electronic industry
  • Housing services and utilities
  • General mechanical engineering
  • Water supply in various regions
  • Water supply of the marine fleet and facilities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations

Nowadays, water treatment is mostly carried out using the membrane technologies (so-called baromembrane and electromembrane technologies), and applying the reverse osmosis method, which has several advantages - low cost and high productivity, but also a significant drawback - the given method doesn't allow to concentrate salts and save good micro-elements in water, thus making distilled water. The use of distilled water harmfully effects on the internal biochemical processes of the human body.

Our mother company has developed a new technology, that combines all the best from the membrane technologies, allowing to improve the efficiency of both methods.
Electrodialysis Membranes Method
Our innovative technology of sea and brackish water desalination uses modified electrodialysis membranes method, and allows to significantly minimize energy and operating costs without loss in quality of desalination.
The applied technology provides the possibility of using the ion control system, and is based on the electrodialysis method, which provides the undeniable technological advantages, such as:

  • simplicity of the basic equipment design;
  • full automation of telemetry control and monitoring;
  • during desalination of water at the finishing stage with electrodialysis,

Usually the correction of salt composition is not required, and desalinated drinking water always corresponds to the requirements of the World Health Organization (WHO) for organoleptic physicochemical and microbiological indicators.

Equipment
The technology involves the acquisition of equipment on a unit basis in accordance with a given level of final salt content in the produced water. The unique electromembrane is designed in a way that allows zero formation of any deposits, thus ther's no necessary for shut dows or consumption of reagents for its regeneration. Patented technology provides electronic transfer of salts throughout the membrane during a complex dialysis process. As a result, more than 90% of purified water with the stable salt content is produced.
Picture
The unit has an electrodialysis filter of the press type. The inlet of the filter is fed with salt water and at the same time electric current is supplied. Under the influence of electric current inside the unit, ions of salts go through the membranes from the desalination chamber to the concentration chamber, where the disinfection of water occurs under the influence of electric current in the unit.
The electromagnetic field is created inside the unit, preventing deposition of salts on the filters / membranes. There are two streams emerging from the unit - desalted, disinfected water and brine containing commercial salt. Thus, a closed, ecologically clean technological cycle is formed with the efficiency of ≥ 40%.
More about the Process
Membranes consist of 0.5 mm thick uniformly reinforced polymer plates with fixed anion and cation transfer zones. Membrane material is designed for permanent residence in an aqueous medium with Рн level of 1 ÷ 10 with a free chlorine concentration of 0.3 mg / l. The membranes operate at a temperature of up to 55 ° C.

Electrodes (cathode and anode) are installed in the end plates, which with the help of tightening bolts compress the membrane of desalination baths, and made of materials resistant to oxidation: platinum, titanium. A direct current is applied to the electrodes.
Automatic switch changes the polarity of the electric field.

A mechanical filter is a quartz sand filter or a microporous anion exchanger that is used for the cleaning from mechanical impurities, color, oxidability.

The cell is a system consisting of two sections with a horizontal axis of the electric field, mounted from 200 pairs of ion-selective membranes measuring 500 × 500 mm2.

Cushion-type cameras and frames are made of polyethylene, with a thickness of 0.8 ÷ 1.0 mm. The aqueous solutions are separated by semipermeable membranes (ultrafiltration and hyperfiltration membranes).

During the electrolysis process, water is synthesized on the membranes in alkali, from which all salts of hardness precipitate. Salt water is left with neutral sodium salts in an amount of 50-60% of the original.

Converter neutralizes the electrolytes after coagulation. The anode is made of platinized titanium.

Clarifying agent – precipitates and neutralizes NaOH hydroxide, thus helps to dispose of hard salts from the installation.
Construction of Equipment
The construction is made of connecting pipelines and industrial valves made of polymer materials. Valve system is made of corrosion-resistant materials.

The Automatic control system of the desalination plant operates in two modes - normal and emergency one, and runs the following programs:

• Automatic support of specified parameters for rectifier bridges operation;
• Command control during start-up and scheduled shutdowns;
• Alarm and Warning signals
• Display of the main operating modes of the unit, the warning alarm status;
• Technical locks;
• Display of the requested information;
• Sourse voltage monitoring and control.

Availability of emergency power supplies is not required. The desalination plant is supplied with bypass networks and a certain supply of fresh water.
Desalination Plant Power System
Power system provides the voltage of 0,4 kV, and consists of integrated transformer substation with two 100 kVA transformers. The substation is an industrially manufactured outdoor unitilized transformer substation with a set of necessary cells and switches.
